Ice Climbing
Looking to Ice Climb at Willoughby? Probably the BEST Ice Climbing in the East is at Lake Willoughby and Mount Pisgah!! Here’s a link to the Willoughby ice falls, and here’s what Mooney Mountain Guides has to say:
“ This northern Vermont area is one of the most awesome climbing locations in North America. The south west facing cliff rises above Lake Willoughby and hosts some of the most challenging pure water ice and mixed routes anywhere. Long routes, steep ice and a spectacular location make this area one not to be missed. Travel up route 93 or 91 makes Lake Willoughby an easy two day trip for travelers from Boston or New York areas.”
The Lynburke Motel, or “The Burke” as it is referred to by the climbers, is the closest motel to Willoughby… just 12 miles up Rt. 5/5a to some of the best climbing in the Northern Hemisphere!
